In this episode, we’re joined by Liza Fiedler, Head of Events at Postcode Lottery Germany, and Carola Pils, Manager Corporate at Vienna Convention Bureau.
Liza started her events career by volunteering to organise her school leaving party when nobody else would. Eight years at one of Germany’s most recognisable social lotteries later, she’s leading a team across 50 events a year and loving every bit of it.
She talks about what the job really looks like from the inside: the year-ahead planning, the capacity juggling, the team leadership, and then those moments on site when everyone is running towards the same goal and the energy is unlike anything else. That spirit, she says, is one of the best things about this industry.
She’s also thoughtful about what makes events at Postcode Lottery feel different: the fact that the work connects to charity partners who are making the world a little better. Combining a passion for events with a genuine sense of purpose is something she clearly doesn’t take for granted.
For anyone considering the industry, her message is straightforward: guests see the nice location and the good food. They don’t see everything behind it. Get involved early, find out if it’s for you, and if it gives you energy rather than taking it away, you’re in the right place.
