In this episode, we’re joined by Rebecca Roche, Account Director, and Mathias Mouritsen, Manager Congress at Copenhagen Convention Bureau.
Rebecca has spent 15 years working across events and experiential marketing, and she has a lot to say about the difference between the two. Event marketing takes a product off a device and into a room. Experiential is something else entirely: immersive, sensory, and designed to create an emotional connection that lasts long after the moment is over. Knowing which one you’re building, and why, is half the craft.
Her role sits where strategy, relationships, execution and commercial growth all meet. She talks about what drives her most: convincing a client to go ahead with an idea they’ve never considered before, and then being part of the team that makes it happen. Seeing that direct line between creative work and a real result, she says, is genuinely addictive.
There’s also a brilliant moment in the conversation where Rebecca reflects on planning her own wedding and what it feels like when the stakes are completely personal. Even then, she came back to the same conclusion: simple is sometimes the best thing, and it’s the considered details people remember.
Her advice for those starting out is direct and generous. Get your hands dirty. Learn the power of pause. Throw spaghetti at the wall. And build your AI skills now as a working tool rather than a side interest, because the people ahead of the curve are already using it.
