My Career Story with Tom Hurley, Head of Events & Studios at LSEG and Glenda Carlyle, Senior Sales Manager at the SEC

In this episode, we’re joined by Tom Hurley, Head of Events and Studios at LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group), and Glenda Carlyle, Senior Sales Manager at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow.

Tom leads a team of around 30 across events, broadcast studios and film at one of the world’s most iconic financial institutions, including the daily privilege of overseeing the opening and closing ceremony of the London Stock Exchange. His role spans everything from board programmes and leadership events to sales conferences and third-party trade shows.

He speaks candidly about the growing role of AI in the events sector, reframing the fear around it as an invitation to start small and build confidence. He also reflects on his own career journey — including the bold decision to leave a company he loved after 15 years to take a risk on something new, a move that proved to be the springboard for everything that followed.

Practical, honest and full of energy , Tom’s message is simple: be bold, be imaginative and never be afraid to do things differently.
