In this episode, we’re joined by Elsa Senn, Senior Marketing and Events Advisor at A&O Shearman, and Sharon Dana, Manager Corporate UK at the Vienna Convention Bureau.
Elsa runs the client events function at one of the world’s biggest law firms, delivering around 100 to 120 events a year with a team of three. She started in agencies, made the move in-house, and has never looked back.
What she loves most is the navigation: bringing together lawyers, marketing colleagues, global events teams, IT, catering, agencies and clients, understanding every different need and personality in the room, and making it all come together into something that feels exceptional. People won’t remember what you said, she reflects, but they will remember how you made them feel.
She’s also refreshingly direct about what it takes to succeed in this industry. Event management isn’t rocket science, she says. Lots of people can organise a great event. What separates the good from the great is the want to do it, every single day, even on the hard ones. And on AI, her message is equally clear: embrace it now, because it’s making events faster, smarter and more strategically aligned, and those who don’t adapt will be left behind.
A really honest and energising conversation.
